The Department of Transport has announced that a £7.5 million Workplace Charging Scheme will be launched to increase the electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the UK. The funding will be open to both public and private sector businesses and a further £2.5 million will be available to councils who install electric vehicle charging points.
The Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) has published the details of the scheme, called the Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS).
The new Workplace Charging Scheme will offer businesses £300 per socket to cover the upfront costs of an electric vehicle charging point with the maximum allowance of 20 sockets for each application.
Interested in applying?
From the 21st November, applicants must apply to the DVLA, who are administrating the scheme. If the eligibility checks are successful then you will be issued with a unique voucher code, which can then be given to any OLEV-authorised WCS installer.
The voucher is valid for four months and once the charge point has been installed the authorised installer will claim the grant from the OLEV on your behalf.
